God's call to return to Him is just as urgent for 21st century America as it was for ancient Israel. The drift away from God in our culture is not simply a political or academic problem. A significant part of the responsibility rests with the church, which has too often compromised, grown cowardly, and tolerated what it should have stood against. Jeremiah 4 calls us to put away the abominations in our own lives, break up the fallow ground in our hearts, and stop sowing seed among thorns. True revival does not begin at a national level. It begins in individual hearts, one person at a time. Real freedom in Christ means freedom from fear, greed, sensuality, cowardice, and compromise. The place to start is not with the culture or even the church. It is with your own heart.
